Clevedon are beginning to struggle against semi-professional sides. Again the local boys of Clevedon were playing against a multi-nation sides.
Clevedon took an early lead through a penalty by Dan Hawkes from the half way line. Chinnor replied with a penalty, then Hawkes missed a penalty from in front of the posts.
Chinnor's heavier pack dominated the set pieces and a catch and drive at the lineout resulted in a converted try. A fine break through midfield resulted in another converted try right on half time, giving Chinnor a 17-3 lead. Against all the odds Clevedon battled well and competed in all facets of the game.
Team: S.Johnson, C.Cates, T.Thie, T. O'Rourke, S.Johns, D.Hawkes, D.Filby, B.Stone, J.Morgan, N.Tucker( c) T.Lisney, J.Durant, N.Bridle, R.Hughes, J.Shopland(c). Reps: N.Hudson, B. Ford, S.Barnes
The second half showed Chinnor playing down the slope. Clevedon had a forward yelow carded, which did not help their cause. Chinnor punished Clevedon with two more converted tries with cathc and drives from the lineout. Clevedon were not quite down and out, but fought hard and some poor tackling let Chinnor in for two late tries, one of which was converted. This did not prevent superb performances from James Shopland, Richard Hughes and Tom O'Rourke.
