President Michael Thomas Reports:
Oxford Harlequins 62   Clevedon 15

Clevedon went to Oxford minus key players O'Rourke, McMillan, Stone and Bridle. It proved that Clevedon do not have enough players in depth who want to play for the 1st XV.

Clevedon started well and took the lead with a penalty by Dan Hawkes. Ben Littleton playing his first start for Clevedon at prop, got an injury being pulled down short of the line and was replaced by Captain Neil Tucker, who was on the bench nursing an injury. Oxford, a far physically bigger and faster side, dominated a period up to half time, scoring four tries aided by some weak tackling by Clevedon. Hawkes replied with three more penalties. Oxford deservedly led 28-12 at the break.

AC: Prop Ben Littleton starts his first league gameTeam: S.Johnson, C.Cates, T.Thie, A.Vailes, S.Johns, D.Hawkes, D.Filby, B.Littleton, J.Morgan, T.Lisney, D.Rawle, J.Pearce, S.Barnes, R.Hughes, J.Shopland(c). Reps: N.Hudson, B. Ford, N.Tucker

Ashley Vailes retired at half time with a shoulder injury, which enabled debutant Brett Ford to play on the wing.

The first ten minutes saw the Clevedon forwards through Tucker, Hughes, Shopland and Morgan take the game to Oxford. James Morgan's pitching gave Clevedon regular lineout ball, but the backs could not benefit. Hawkes kicked his fifth penalty, but that was it. Oxford team rollered Clevedon in the last 20 minutes by scoring 6 trie with 2 being converted.

A better performance will be required to beat Chinnor next week, who are riding high in th table

Next Saturday sees Clevedon entertain Chinnor, kick off 14:30
