Keynsham had the better of the early exchanges, but as last week, Clevedon's superb defence helped keep them in the score sheet clean. Clevedon from the start were superior in the lineout with James Shopland and Wayne MacMillan outstanding. When Clevedon were in possession they looked threatening and a move from their own line resulted in a try for Dan Hawkes who finished off an excellent handling movement with all the backs involved. Hawkes converted his try, and soon increased the lead with a penalty. Try as hard as they could Keynsham could not score.
The second half started in the same fashion with Keynsham's dominating play, but unable to capitalise. Good defensive work by James Shopland, Tom Thie and Tom O'Rourke deined the hosts on numerous occasions.
Clevedon did not use their possession wisely and ball retention was very poor. Good work was often spoiled in this facet of the game. During the last quarter Keynsham threw everything at Clevedon, but Neil Tucker and his braves dug in to grind out a victory.
Next week, Clevedon are at home to Clifton in the league. Kick off 14:30.
