AC: A Captain's try

The early exchanges were even. Chippenham gradually got on top, having more determination to win the game they thought they should not have had to play, due to uncontested scrums the first time round.

Clevedon had a player yellow carded. This gave Chipenham the initiative. they took a quick tapped penalty, which caught Clevedon off guard and scored a try, which was converted. Chippenham then had a player yellow carded. Clevedon's lineout was not functioning as normal. Chippenham increased their lead with a penalty. Clevedon were denied possession by a well drilled Chippenham pack and could not get into the game. Clevedon were on the defensive for most of the half.

The second half showed Clevedon more in the game, but their good handling let them down on numerous occasions. A good catch and drive at the lineout saw Clevedon rewarded with a great forward try scored by skipper Neil Tucker. A silly quick lineout was thwarted by Chippenham and turned possession into a try, which left Clevedon red-faced. The weather , now got cold and wet and Clevedon threw caution to the wind to play catch up rugby. Chippenham's defence was superb and try as they might, Clevedon failed to add to their score.

Next week, Clevedon are at home to Reading Abbey. Kick Off 14:30.
