AC: Wayner gets his try and a cuddle from Captain Tucker

Clevedon continued their winning ways with a convincing win against a side they had never beaten before. The first quarter showed the visitors on top and Clevedon deprived of possession. Maidenhead took the lead with a try from a kick ahead, which wrong footed the home defence. Maidenhead soon increased their lead with a second try, which was converted. Clevedon now 12 nil down gradually got into the game and did what they are good at by moving the ball and not kicking away possession. Within minutes both wingers Christian Dalera and Chris Cates got on the score sheet with excellent tries after Mike Lowis provided the final pass. Dan Hawkes converting one. Maidenhead regained the lead with arty from a catch and drive from a lineout. Before half time Clevedon gained the lead with a try by Steve Barnes after a slick handling movement. Dan Hawkes converted to give Clevedon a 19-17 lead at the break

Clevedon started the second half in fine fettle. The centres, with Tom O'Rourke in control and Mike Lowis at his best saw Clevedons' backs have a field day. After good work by Lowis, James Shopland scored a good try, which Hawkes converted. Shopland, Barnes and McMillan worked well as a backrow unit. Maidenhead's only contribution in the second half was a penalty. A devastating break by James Morgan put Tom Thie over for a try. Dan Hawkes kept the scoreboard rolling with a penalty. Clevedon destroyed the visitor's scrum and good work by Barnes enabled Wayne McMillan to score. It was all Clevedon who were now dominant in all phases and a burst through the lineout saw James Shopland get his second try. Hawkes converted. The final word came from Mike Lowis with a try after very good handling by the Clevedon backs. A good result has got the season underway.

The next league game is at home to Chippenham on the 22nd October, kick off 15:00.
