Dauncey's men travelled to Tor with a some what changed team from the one that comprehensively thrashed Taunton the week earlier but not a lot changed. With the bare 15 men Clevedon once again showed that they have talent in abundance and produced another performance that got the crowd going. The ball was moved at pace from all areas and with the big man Tim Brooks breaking the gain line at will it was not long before the scoring got underway. Issie Delara on his return from distant shores finished off a breathtaking passage of rugby to score under the posts. That was soon followed by a Wayne Wheeler try courtesy of another Brooks break. Clevedons lighter but fitter pack dominated all areas of play and produced an endless supply of quality ball that the backs used to full effect. Two more scores before half time, another by that man Wheeler and one by the tallest fly half in the world Dan Hand. Nellie O'Rourke chipped in with 3 conversions. The second half took a while to get going with a lot of lateral play caused by the never say die attitude of the Tor players. When Clevedon did get to go forward it came in the shape of Big Tim who helped himself to a brace of tries through pace and power. ( there is still plenty that this lad could offer the 1st team !!! ). The scoring was finished off by (the bounce will go my way soon) Bertie Bassett and a sweetly struck conversion by Ian Eisenstrager. A special mention for the man of the match Nick Hudson, who worked tirelessly throughout the match. If you want to see great running rugby come and support the "all action, run the ball" 2nds who play the game the way that it was designed to be played. |
