AC: Jeff Durant takes to the skies after a John Pearce injuryThis Somerset Cup Final was deservedly won by Bridgwater. They dominated most of the game but Clevedon never gave up and should have got on the score sheet. Clevedon played into the breeze and competed to restrict Bridgwater to a penalty in the early stages. A missed tackle in midfield let Bridgwater through for their first try, which was converted. By now Clevedon had lost John Pearce with an injured calf and Paul Glen with a dislocated shoulder. Before thr break Bridgy scored a try from a tapped penalty and a catch and drive at the line out, which was converted. Bridgwater led 22-0 at the break, but Clevedon's tackling was immense and kept them in the game.

The second half saw Clevedon play good expansive rugby, but unfortunately they could not cross the line. Bridgwater increased their lead with another catch and drive lineout try that was converted. Clevedon seemed to give away too many penalties due to pressure. Bridgy increased their lead with two more tries late in the game, after good pressure from Clevedon, who as hard as they tried, could not score. Before the final whistle Bridgy scored two more tries, one converted, to win the game.
