The difference in leagues was the decidng factor in this game and Clevedon took advantage with the their young bucks playing some thriliing rugby. Clevedon took an early lead with two tries by winger Robert Cates after a good handling movement. From a scrum, a midfield move well executed saw Matt Harris go over under the posts. Ashley Vailes converted. A fine break by Mike Lowis saw the outstanding James Shopland go over for Vailes to convert. A movement that went from right to left saw Tom Thie score for Vailes to convert again. Before the break Anthony Fox scored a try for Clevedon to lead 36-0 at the break.
Clevedon were in complete control, but North Petherton stuck to their task and may have got on the score sheet if they had not kicked possession away. Clevedon made wholesale changes in the second half and Simon Johns increased the lead with a well worked try., which he converted. Pressure on the Petherton scrum enabled Dan Filby to score. Matt harris went over for his seocn try. Towards the end a turn over ball saw Simon Johns score his second try, which he in turn converted. A good victory, but a consistent kicker is needed.
