This was Clevedon's last home league game of the present campaign and left their supporters full of hope for next season.
Clevedon had the dream start when captain Jeff Durant won good lineout ball and a swift handling movement saw flanker Owen Biggins go over in the corner for a converted try. Keynsham fighting to stave off relegation came back at Clevedon and replied with a simple penalty. Keynsham seemed to have a great deal of possession, but Clevedon's superb defensive display kept Keynsham at bay. Owen Biggins scored his second try with a well-engineered tap penalty move. Mike Lowis converted. Clevedon were dominant in the scrums with the front row of Nick Hill, James Gallagher and Neil Tucker in the ascendancy. Mike Panoho at number eight had an outstanding game and a 60 metre run by him saw converted winger Anthony Fox go over in the corner. Clevedon led 17-3 at the break.
The second half started off with both teams playing crazy rugby with no pattern to the play at all. It took another powerful run by Panoho to set up a try for Christian Bushell. Lowis converted. Mike Lowis, the elusive magician had an outstanding game and mesmerised the opposition on occasions. Pressure on the Keynsham scrum saw Ashley Vailes charge down an attempted clearance and Tom O'Rourke had to just fall on the ball for a simple try. Lowis converted. Keynsham to their credit never gave up and were rewarded with a converted try at the end when Clevedon failed to clear their lines. Dave Rawle gave another promising display and Tim Brooks held the defence firm.
