AC: Panoho puts Clevedon back in front with his try

Clevedon owed this hard-earned win to its pack of forwards who battled hard for eighty minutes, scrummaged superbly and kept Clevedon in the game. The last two games have shown Clevedon down at half time, but come back to win by keeping a clean sheet in the second halves.

AC: Tom O'Rourke scores a good poachers try

Clevedon were in the ascendancy early on and in front of a large vocal crowd took an early lead with a penalty by Mike Lowis. Clifton soon settles and won a fair share of possession, but could not take advantage, mainly due to some great defence and stout tackling in mid-field and around the fringes. A well executed tap penalty move resulted in Owen Biggins going over for a try, which Lowis converted. Clifton hit back with a well-worked try from a lineout. This was quickly followed by their second try, which came from a Clevedon error. Before the break Clifton took the lead 10-13 with penalty.

AC: A very relieved captain Jeff Durant leads his team from the field

Harsh words from coach Brian Hanlon at half time seemed to do the trick with Clevedon firing on all cylinders. Unfortunately, they made too many errors to capitalise on their forward domination. Balls were dropped, and ball retention was poor. Clevedon forced Clifton into the clubhouse corner and from a superb lineout catch and drive, Mike Panoho went over for a try. Lowis converted. With the roar of the crowd carrying Clevedon to victory a second try came in hell house corner when Clevedon caused chaos in the Clifton scrum for Tom O'Rourke to poach a good try that Lowis converted. A hard earned win, which keep Clevedon in second place.

Next Saturday Clevedon are away to Keynsham in the rearranged league match. Kick off is at 2:15pm. The following day Clevedon are away to Bristol Harlequins in the fourth round of the Somerset Cup, kick off is at 2:00pm.
