The 3rd Team, now known as the 'Clevedon Rebels' took on Chipping Sodbury down at The Vale on Saturday. Clevedon once again had a young line up and were looking forward to some fast running rugby. With Andrew Hill back in the side at scrum half the back line's mouths were positively watering at the prospect of top-notch service. The game got off to a very fast start with lots of kicking and chasing, but Clevedon's athletic side had the stamina and pace to score after early exchanges. After the initial score Clevedon really got into their stride and the pace and passing were too much for Sodbury to handle as the Rebels began to dominate. Good defence was shown by Clevedon when required and after half time the rout continued with Clevedon's skilful backs having too much in the locker for Sodbury's defence. This was aptly demonstrated by the great passing of Joe Taylor. The game finished early, but not without a consolation try for Sodbury right at the death. However Clevedon were the undoubted winners and strong performances were put in across the team, even Luke Filby weighed in with a score. After the game the team celebrated by trying to drink a pint for every point scored. Team spirit is now building and the boys are buoyant going into the next game. Editors Note: |
