In atrocious conditions the 3rds, or back in their customary black kit, the Dark Destroyers, took on Weston Hornets at the Vale. Hornets looked organised even before the kick off, doing drills and all sorts. Young, Gifted and Fat stuck to their usual warm up techniques, a mixture of watching the 1st team and talking about the shenanigans from the night before. Manager/Leg-End John Evans again dusted off his boots and decided to use his pace out on the wing.
Hornets extra organisation was evident in their play and they took the early advantage scoring a couple of tries. Conditions made playing very difficult, but Dave Roberts played well at full back always reliable under the high ball, er, well most of the time! The second half saw the introduction of Matt Davis in the front row, his additional size saw Clevedon begin to take advantage in the scrums, but it was all a little too little too late. Highlights of the second half were the Luke Filby rugby masterclass, including how to pass to the opposition and a lesson to Christian Bushell in how to finish. How is that hamstring now Luke? With a week off now to re-cooperate and re-evaluate the boys can now look forward to their next encounter with increased enthusiasm. Can we have an easy team next time please John? This losing lark is bad for morale!
