After the high of the previous week we came back to earth with a below par display, with many players having a bad day at the office. Losing Ross Brace early on in the game didn't help as the narrow pitch suited him. Although his claim (in the bar) that his groin pulled because he nearly did the splits was a bit far fetched. After creating good positions to score, a few wrong decisions meant we only had Nelly and Fielder's tries to show at the interval after a lot of good approach work.

Turning round 14-17, the large Valley forwards started to take advantage of the lack of space by bashing up the middle repeatedly. We needed an early score, but unfortunately a touch kick by Chew, was taken quickly in our 22 by a person who shall not be named for legal reasons and after wrapping him up they collected the gift to score. Another blow was the loss of Richard Hill to concussion midway through the half, who after coming round didn't know why he was being carried off the field. Still believe you drove to the game Rich? We gave away enough turnovers in the second half for two games and even though Chew's chairman was ref (and inadvertently put the best tackle of the day on their centre and Lewis Sweet) there were no excuses as many players just made too many mistakes. On the positive side it was good to see Alan Dunn playing in the 2's again and Matt Foster as usual was excellent at full back. Time to put the result behind us and get the show back on.
