This was an exciting, outstanding Somerset CUp final with Clevedon the underdogs against a team from two leagues above. Clevedon took an early lead through a fine individual try by Tom O'Rourke, which split the Weston defence wide open. Steve Johnson converted. Weston hit back with their huge pack and scored a pushover try whcih was converted. Weston applied tremendous pressure, but Clevedon's defence held firm. Clevedon then lost crucial lineouts near the Weston line and a chance went begging. A few missed tackles in midfield let Weston in for a try and they increased their lead with a blindside try to lead 17-7 at the break. Early in the second half Clevedon failed to clear their lines and gifted Weston a converted try. clevedon still plugged away and a few good runs by Christian Bushell stretched the Wetson defence but then kicked away possession and Weston ran it back to score another converted try. Clevedon never gave up and good hands up the blindside resulted in Tony Dauncey going over for a try, which got Clevedon back into the game. Clevedon had shown plenty of character to get back to 31-17, but Weston then kicked a penalty and scored a converted try at the final whistle.
