This third round Bristol cup game started with a shock seeing Clevedon 5 nil down after five minutes. |From the start Clevedon, on a sunny afternoon, were intent on running the ball on every occasion. A quickly taken tapped penalty and good handling saw Chris Cates flash over in the corner. This move was repeated with Tom Thie getting the touch down. From a scrum Chris Cates scored his second and the outstanding Ashley Vailes scored two tries before the interval.

TThe second half was much of the same, the crowd being thrilled with rugby played at a blistering pace. Mike Lowis scored a fine individual try, which Neil O'Rouke converted. Harlequins, who never gave up, hit back with a converted try. Clevedon destroyed the visitors' scrum for Tom Thie to score with Johnson converting. A quick line out throw saw Thie go over for his hat trick. Johnson converted. Then a proud moment for young prop Bradley Kemp who scored his first try, which Johnson converted. The final Clevedon try was by Vailes who completed his hat trick.

A special mention must go to James Bale making a return to first team rugby in the second row. Clevedon now progress to the quarter final.
