Clevedon completed the double over Taunton this season and did so at their brilliant best. Playing on a wide flat pitch suited Clevedon's expansive game and the counter-attacking of mercurial fullback Mike Lowis. The first twenty minutes proved pointless while both sides eyed each other up, with Taunton having ample ball but Clevedon's defence held firm. Clevedon's first try came with Mike Lowis gathering his own kick ahead and many hands became involved in a sweeping move, which ended up with Chris Page scoring under the posts. Steve Johnson converted. Clevedon increased their lead with Owen Biggins scoring under the posts with a well worked penalty move, again Johnson converted. Behind the scrum Clevedon's backs were too quick and skillful for Taunton. This proved the case when Ashley Vailes scored a fine try after good approach work. Clevedon led 19-0 at the break. The second half saw Taunton attacking all the time but to no avail because of Clevedon's superb defence and the work rate of the pacey back row of Page, Fox and Biggins. The tight play was good with man of the match James Gallagher outstanding. One of Mike Lowis's numerous breaks put Chris Page in for his second try. Johnson converted. Clevedon had the final say when good work by Tony Dauncey saw tom Thie score wide out. Mike Lowis converted.
