This top of the table clash turned out to be a spectactular of open rugby. Both sides ran the ball at will. Clevedon took an early lead through a penalty by Steve Johnson. During the first half, Clevedon dominated the game and naturally had the territorial advantage but could not turn their superiority into points and missed chances at regular intervals. Before the break Owen Biggins went over for a try for Clevedon to lead 8-0.

The second half proved to be a hard session for Clevedon whose lineout was not functioning and loose out of hand kicking let Stroud back into the game. A poor clearance let Stroud in for a try. A rare attack in Stroud territory saw Tommy Thie poach a try from a thumping tackle by Tim Brooks and celebrate in a way that could only be described as naff. Johnson converted. Another poor clearance kick gave Stroud the opportunity to reduce the deficit with a converted try. Clevedon in the closing stages defended well and hung on in there for a victory and two more points.

The movie of the Owen Biggins try will load frame by frame and take a few minutes to finish.
