Club Chairman Paul Squires reached the big FOUR O on Friday and was joined by family and friends to celebrate this momentous occasion. Loads of food and drink ensured the evening was a lively affair with plenty of post season gossip to catch up on.
The next major social occasions within the club are the marriages of Chris Page to Sam in July and Clive Richards to Denise in August. What fun!!

North Somerset Sevens Title
The day started brightly enough, with sunshine and a light breeze.
It wasn't long before the wind strength increased and the rain lashed
down. The playing timetable was accelerated and the whole competition
was over by five o'clock. Clevedon retained their title in style
for the third year in succession. They only had one try scored against
them all afternoon and won all of their matches with something to
spare.
The afternoon was well organised by Nailsea & Backwell RFC
who entered three teams and saw one team lose the Plate final to
Yatton a main semi final against Gordano. This tournament now looks
to be a permanent fixture in the diary and could do with a lot more
support from local teams. Spread the word because it's a great day
out.
Clevedon faced Gordano in the final on the main pitch with the
weather at its worst and won 28-0. Click the picture for more photos.

Clevedon 22 Swanage & Wareham 8Nervous mistakes cost Clevedon 8 points early on who then had to dig a bit deeper to overcome a determined Swanage team. A crowd of around 350 saw Clevedon promoted to South West One and by way of celebration at the end the heavens opened and got everyone soaked for their trouble. Not that anyone minded because they headed straight for the bar to begin their post match analysis with a pint(?).
There were many people in the crowd from local clubs` - Yatton, Backwell, Gordano and even our old mates St. Mary's were watching as well - thanks for all your support and good wishes. Next season will be a challenge there's no doubt about that, but at least it will an enjoyable one. Well done boys we're in South West One at last!!

Owing to a congested fixture list, the game against Barton Hill in the quarter final of the Combination Cup was arranged for Sunday 13th of April. The opposition failed to honour the fixture and were therefore eliminated from the competition. They appealed on the grounds of not wanting to play two hard games in two days. They were reinstated by the Cup committee. Both clubs were ordered to play on the 23rd of April. Clevedon protested that with the County Cup Final on Sunday 20th April and the Swanage & Wareham in the league playoff on the 26th April, it was too much to ask. The cup committee agreed to the game being played on the 30th of April if both clubs were in agreement. Barton Hill refused this date and as a result Clevedon, the reigning cup holders, were thrown out!!!!
The only remaining fixtures are two sevens tournaments on the 3rd and 5th May. |
Friday 9th May 2003, 7:30pmThe annual Dinner & Dance was held at the Cadbury Country Club and a fun time was had by all. The photos tell the story. More later on.

There were five people who correctly guessed the 15 winners and the tie breaker decided it. The closest to the combined points total was Pete Philips, a Rolls Royce employee and obviously now one of Weave's very best friends! Analyse the results for yourself. Last years Six Nations sweepstake results can be found here. |

Some old black and whites from the sixties and seventies can be found behind the photo of Captain John Davis taken during the 1972 - 1973 season.
You'll notice that there are some current members in the main photo including Pete Hand, Bob Legge, Roger Gazzard and Kevin Weaver and no, they're not wearing syrup's. |
The league fixtures for next season are here. |
