Clevedon fielding full strength team started badly and were soon 6- 0 down as a result of two penalties. Clevedon gradually realised they had a game on their hands and scored a good try in the corner by John Pearce and this was quickly followed by a penalty from Mike Lowis to take the lead.

Clevedon took advantage when the Whitehall hooker got injured and from then on dominated the scrums and lines out. As a result, before half time they scored tries by Owen Biggins and Tim Brooks, one being converted by Lowis who also kicked a penalty to lead 23-6 at the break.

Clevedon started the second half well aware that they had a great deal to do and were not having the rub of the green on the decision side. Whitehall had the early initiative and kicked a penalty and scored a converted try to reduce the score to 23-16.

Clevedon then upped their game and scored a good try after a good handling movement allowing Christian Bushell to score, which Lowis converted. Clevedon now in the ascendency scored two more tries through Biggins and Bushell, one being converted by Lowis to finish a good away win.
