Clevedon went into this CableCom Combination Cup semi final without the influential Mike Lowis. Clevedon playes down the slope with a gale at their backs and took the lead through two Neil O'Rourke penalties. Despite the wind, Clevdon dominated the lines out with John Pearce and Jeff Durant prominent. Clevedon applied the pressure at the scrum near the Cleve line. Disruption by Neil O'Rourke enabled Chris Page to pick up the loose ball to put Owen Biggins in for a try. Clevedon's defence was always secure and Cleve from a league above, who had already beaten Dings and Keynsham in earlier rounds could make no inroads. Before the break an excellent back move instigated by Tim Brooks saw Christian Bushell flash over in the corner. Clevedon led 16-0 at half time. The second half saw Clevedon against the elements and very much on the back foot. Tim Brooks left the field with a hamstring injuty. Chaos in the defence gifted Cleve a try but Clevedon full of grit, grafted and defended superbly. An excellent break by man of the match centre Tom Thie over 80 metres resulted in Bushell scoring his second try. Cleve then kicked a penalty and scored a converted try to play out the last few minutes on the Clevedon line, but Clevedon held firm to reach the final on the 9th May.
