Clevedon 21 Coney Hill 17

Coney Hill lying in third place in the league came to cause the upset of the day and just failed in their quest. Clevedon started in fine style and applied all the early pressure and would have taken an early lead if they had played simple running rugby, instead of over elaborating. Eventually, they took the lead with a penalty by Mike Lowis, which was quickly followed by an excellent individual try by Lowis, having mesmerised the opposition with a sixty metre run. Coney Hill defended well racking up a high tackle count and were justly rewarded with a converted try before Tom O'Rourke's superb try, which Lowis converted to put Clevedon 15-7 in front at the break. By now, Clevedon had realised that Coney Hill were no pushover and again should have scored more often but the final pass was either delayed or it was a poor one. Coney Hill kicked a penalty and Lowis reply in kind. Clevedon's forwards won a steady supply of ball but opportunities were squandered far too often. Coney Hill scored a try, which was converted to bring the score to 18-17 with ten minutes remaining. The trusty, reliable boot of Lowis kicked an excellent penalty to give Clevedon a win, which was hard fought for. Match day
