CLEVEDON 34 GORDON LEAGUE 0
22nd September 2001
| Back to 1st XV fixtures Gordon League started in fine fashion and applied the early pressure and Clevedon defended well to keep the score to nil after the early onslaught. Clevedon gradually got themselves into the game and took the lead through a Mike Lowis penalty. Clevedon had the upper hand in the scrums, and a drive by Matt Groves from a scrum near the line resulted in a try for Owen Biggins, which Lowis converted. Clevedon dominated the line outs with good ball being won by captain Jeff Jurant and from a line out, good work by the forwards resulted in a drive for the line by Owen Biggins giving him his second try. Clevedon lead 15 - 0 at the break. Clevedon started the second half in fine style and good ball retention resulted in Ollie Thompson going over for a try which again Lowis converted. Clevedon were now playing good controlled rugby and the visitors were on the back foot for most of the game. Good slick handling put Lowis in for a try which he duly converted and Clevedon had the final say when Biggins scored his hat trick with a well practised move to give Clevedon a good disciplined win.
