This performance by Clevedon could quite easily have been after the Lord Mayor's Show, except for a polished second half performance. Thornbury had by far the better start in this quarter final of the Combination Cup match and took an early lead with a try from a tapped penalty. This was soon increased by a second try after a few missed tackles in mid-field. Playing down the slope Clevedon got on the score sheet with a try by Owen Biggins from a scrum. Cleevdon then forged ahead just before the break with a second Biggins try, which Mike Lowis converted. The second half saw Clevedon tighten up their game, but the disturbing factor was the amount of times they lost the ball in the tackle. Thornbury regained the lead with atry from a lineout near to the line. This now was asign for Clevedon's backs to play their normal running game and a quick tapped penalty saw Mike Lowis score under the posts, which he in turn converted. John Pearce again excelled in the lines out, closely followed by James Bale. Clevedon had the final say when a slick handling movement ended with Tom O'Rourke scoring a try to win the game with LOwis again converting.
