This Bristol Cup 3rd round game proved to be a hard gruelling match with Clevedon seeking revenge for last seasons cup defeat. Clevedon, nearly at full strength took an early lead through two Mike Lowis penalties.

Aretians starved of possession in the scrums, defended well and it took an interception by Adie Freeman to break down their defence and put Owen Biggins in for a try. A slick handling movement found skipper Jeff Durant in an unaccustomed position on the wing to cross in the corner for a try.

Clevedon were now in the driving seat, demolishing the home sides scrum and winning good lineout ball. Inevitably, James Shopland finished off another good handling move for a try just before the break.

The second half saw Clevedon continue to play rugby at a pace that on occasions was breath taking. Aretians now playing with the slope raised their game and Clevedon did well to keep a clean sheet with good defensive work. Clevedon increased their lead with a brilliant individual try by Christian Bushell after a strike against the head by the superb hooker, Neil Tucker. Tucker, then won another strike against the head for Biggins to get his second try and replacement scrum half, Steve Pimm scored a try from a scrum to make the score 36-0 to Clevedon.
