Clevedon, playing bottom of the table North Bristol, had to win well to boost their point's difference. They started in fine fashion with Chris Cates scoring the first try which Mike Lowis converted. North Bristol, on a rare occasion into the Clevedon's half, kicked a penalty. A loose ball on the blind side was picked up by veteran flanker James Bale for a try. Clevedon were always in the ascendancy, and Tim Brookes increased their lead with a try down the blind side, which Lowis converted. Before the interval, Clevedon scored three more excellent tries by Tom & Neil O'Rourke and youngster Tom Thie, one being converted by Lowis. Clevedon lead 36-6 at the break.

Clevedon forwards continued to give the backs a good platform, and prop Tony Dauncey scored a try from close in and Chris Cates showed his superior pace for his second try which Neil O'Rourke converted. Jeff Durant and John Pearce won good lineout ball and from one such lineout Tim Brookes scored his second try. This was quickly followed by Chris Cates hat trick and the final try, scored by Mike Lowis was converted by Tom Thie. Clevedon again relaxed and let in a soft converted try on the final whistle.
