This was the first club tour for five years, which was well organised by Captain Jeff Durant and Vice-Captain Tim Brooks. And what a great, great tour it was. No bother, no hassle, plenty of laughs, loads of singing, many stories and a force 8 journey home after a 4am start from Cork. The Saturday game was won with ease and Sunday's day out to a Hurling match was an experience not to be missed. The fossils enjoyed themselves and were well led by Fordie who won both the MOTM and the MOTT awards. You wouldn't have thought that he had to be persuaded to go! Well done Jeff and Tim and well done boys for behaving yourselves and making it a tour to remember. More recollections later. |

Brian Hanlon was over the moon, chuffed as nuts, happy as a sand boy, pleased as punch, like a dog with two *****, happy as Larry and generally tickled pink after Clevedon won the Cup 8-6 on Thursday 9th. He said was looking forward to a relaxing and fun-filled Cork Tour.

After a very successful evening, Jeff and Debbie Durant head for home and await the publishing of these photos. As you'll see, gurning comes naturally to some people while others have to work at it.
Treasurer John Harnett tried his best to avoid the camera and at one stage threatened to shove it "where the sun don't shine". Heeeeeeeaah didn't succeed though!
Clubman of the year was Chairman Paul Squires, who also doubled up as Secretary. He did an awful lot of work throughout the year and thanked the rest of the committee for their efforts. He was doubly proud because his Uncles Gordon and Bob Murley were previous winners of this trophy.
The Kicking Cup went to Mike Lowis, the Try Cup went to Christian Bushell, Most Improved Player went to Owen Biggins, Players Player went to Neil Tucker, Captains Player went to Tim Brooks who played in every match this season and the new Coaches Cup went to Neil O'Rourke who was singled out by coach Hanlon as the man who had given everything this season.
All the speeches were amusing and informative and WCN pennants were presented to every member of the first team squad as a momento of their achievement.

On Sunday 5th may, the Clevedon Mini's section lead by Chris Haliburton, held their annual awards ceremony. The club house was packed to the rafters to see each player presented with a commemorative plaque. There were players player awards for each age group and many other gifts to coaches and helpers. It was a heart warming affair knowing that some of these youngsters will be playing first team rubgy within a few years. They are after all, the future of the club. Keep playing lads and keep coaching coaches ! Well done to you all.
